Desert Wind Pintos... ...Home of World and National Champions!!!
We're now on Facebook!
Check out our farm page shown below, for updates and interesting info on Saddlebreds, Arabians, Miniature Horses and farm life in general.
Desert Wind was originally began during 1991 in Bloomington Indiana and is now located in South Carolina. The farm was founded on "old fashioned" values, where integrity and trust-worthiness actually mattered. We're very pleased to be able to say that 33 years later, the same values are still the guidelines for how we do business each day. Every encounter is of value to us, no matter how big or how small the question or sale might be. You are never just another account to us. You become our extended family and we pledge to always do our best to help you, if we can do so.
Desert Wind specializes in....PINTO SHOW HORSES. We are very fortunate to own the homozygous tobiano pinto saddlebred stallion, El Dorado Spitfire (aka Flash who is shown in the picture above). He is a rare buckskin pinto saddlebred. There are less than 0.05% of registered saddlebreds in the United States (as of April 4, 2010), that are this unique and beautiful color! He has earned his Pinto Champion Title. He is also a ROM winner in halter, tobiano color, english pleasure, three gaited/park and ideal pinto english on the Pinto Show Circuit.
We have also added pint sized pintos to our roster! Yes, you can now find pinto miniature horses here at Desert Wind! They not only are fun show animals but they make wonderful trail driving partners as well! We are very blessed to have stood an own son of Boones Little Buckeroo, Little Kings Buckeroo Aladin! He gave us wonderful foals and he is now retired. Our new miniature stallion is equally as well bred. We have a son of Buckeye WCF Leeland Royal Grand. DVM Grand Bazinga (aka Zinga) has proven himself in the show ring, with his latest achievements being an AMHR Reserve National Championship in Model Halter and an AMHR National Championship in Country Pleasure Driving! He has also earned his HOF in country pleasure driving during 2019. Our miniature mares have outstanding pedigrees behind them as well, with one having earned her HOF in western country pleasure driving. Athletic, Beautiful, Character and Proven Show Quality in much smaller versions of our big pinto horses!!
Want a unique color? We definitely have that! Want quality and athletic ability? We definitely have that too! Color without quality means nothing in our books! It's been that way from day one and will always continue to be that way.
We are also very pleased to be participating in a preservation breeding program for Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs! This wonderful docile breed of pig was almost extinct in the 1960's and thanks to dedicated breeders, it is slowly recovering. It's still on the threatened list of breeds with the Livestock Conservancy but that's up from the critical listing that it was at just a few short years ago. Please check out our facebook page for updates on this lovely breed and to see our journey to help preserve them. Visitors welcome at the farm by prior appointment only please. Please enjoy browsing our website and we look forward to meeting you in person.
